Rad Martinez vs. Shahbulat Shamhalaev: Not enough people are
talking about this fight. It is really going under the radar, even though it's
the main event of this Bellator event. Both of these young featherweights have
extremely bright futures in the world of MMA and are also very similar
fighters. The both love to put on barnburners and look to finish the fight
early. Shamhalaev boasts a nearly perfect record of 11-1-1 with the only loss
being to rising star 18-0 Khabib Nurmagomedov; while Martinez is 14-2 with his
losses being to UFC veteran Brian Cobb and Bellator veteran Travis Marx. The
main problem I have with this fight is the cardio. Shamhalaev is a blitzer, he
loves to finish a fight as quickly as possible, which is always a risk to
cardio. Martinez is a gifted athlete with great cardio which was shown in his
last two fights with Nazareno Malagarie and Wagney Fabiano, which were both
grueling standup fights. If Martinez can weather the storm, he should be able
to take a 29-28 decision victory = Martinez via unanimous decision.
Zoila Gurgel vs. Jessica Eye: This is another difficult
fight to predict. In my opinion, Jessica Eye is the future kingpin of the
women's flyweight division. She is extremely well rounded and is a tough outing
for anyone at 125. Zoila, on the other hand is arguably the number one
flyweight herself but has shown many weaknesses in her past few fights. Eye
will have the better all around game and I see her easily dominating the
strawweight Bellator champion = Eye via unanimous decision.
Zach Makovsky vs. Anthony Leone = Makovsky via 1st round
submission (choke).

Main Card
Rad Martinez vs. Shahbulat
Shamhalaev: This fight should be a fun one. But this is a hard fight to pick
for me. I have picked against Rad in the past and he made me pay for it but
Shamhalaev is the better fighter. His striking is on another level and his
killer instinct will help him get the edge on Rad who is more laid back and ok
with decisions (8 of his 14 wins are by decision). Watch for Shamhalaev to use
his reach advantage and waiting for Rad to leave himself open and then he will
strike and end it. = Shamhalaev by TKO in round 2.
Zoila Gurgel vs. Jessica Eye: I agree with Sam
here. Eye is just too well rounded for Zoila. I see Eye being able to grind
this one out and fight a smart fight. I think she is ready for the big stage
and will be champ for a long time. Super glad to see this fight on the main
card. = Eye by unanimous decision.
